In a series of theft cases in Puttur, the Puttur Town police have successfully apprehended three women involved in two separate incidents of theft. The stolen goods, including gold ornaments and gold rings, were recovered, and investigations into both cases are ongoing.
The first incident occurred on December 19, when Jyoti and Yashoda, both residents of Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, were arrested for stealing gold ornaments from Saraswati, a resident of Golthamajalu village. The theft took place at the Puttur KSRTC bus stand, and the stolen ornaments were valued at Rs25,000. Upon arrest, the police successfully recovered the stolen items, and both women were charged with theft.
The second theft took place on December 13, when Vidya, a resident of Neermarga, Mangaluru, was arrested for stealing three gold rings worth Rs77,000 from a jewelry shop located on Court Road in Puttur. Vidya had entered the shop under the pretense of purchasing gold and then stole the rings. The shop owner, Shivaprasad Bhat, filed a complaint, and based on the investigation, Vidya was arrested on December 19. The stolen rings were also recovered.
