Two Arrested in Nelson County for Porch Piracy and Burglary

Mitch Kanatzer and Michael Hart face charges for targeting homes in Bardstown

BARDSTOWN, Ky. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with crimes targeting homes in Bardstown. Mitch Kanatzer, 46, was arrested on December 18 after being caught on camera stealing packages in a porch piracy incident on Kennedy Avenue. Deputies responded to the scene after the theft was reported, leading to Kanatzer’s arrest.

The following day, deputies responded to a burglary report in the 3200 block of Boston Road. Michael Hart, 47, was arrested in connection with the burglary. Hart was previously indicted in 2023 by a grand jury for another burglary incident.

Both men now face criminal charges related to their respective offenses.
