The Malad Police in Mumbai have arrested two individuals, Mohammad Saeed Siraj Sheikh (26) and Imtiaz Usman Memon (46), in connection with a series of thefts. The duo is accused of conducting reconnaissance on homes during the day and breaking in at night to steal mobile phones, which they would then resell for quick money.

The case came to light on November 13 when a Malad resident, Mukesh Gahlot, reported a theft at his home. According to Gahlot, he had left his door open for a friend who was returning late from work and went to sleep. However, when he woke up, three of his mobile phones were missing.

The Malad Police quickly registered the case and launched an investigation led by Senior Inspector Vijaykumar Panhale, along with Inspector Sanjay Bedwal, Assistant Inspector Deepak Raiwade, and other officers. They reviewed CCTV footage from the area, which helped them identify Sheikh as the primary suspect.

Upon interrogation, Sheikh confessed to the crime. He explained that he and Memon would scout homes during the day, particularly looking for doors left open. They would then break in at night to steal mobile phones. Sheikh admitted to selling the stolen phones to Memon for resale. Further investigation revealed that the duo had stolen and sold a total of 23 mobile phones, which the police have now recovered.

The arrested men have been charged under relevant sections of the law and are currently in custody. The police are continuing to investigate if there are any other victims or accomplices involved in the crime.
