EDINBURG, Texas — Two men, 21-year-old Edgar Olguin and 19-year-old Jonathan Moreno, were arrested in Edinburg after investigators used a pair of AirPods to trace a stolen vehicle back to their residence. The arrests stemmed from an auto theft investigation on Tuesday evening around 5:30 p.m.

According to the Edinburg Police Department, the key to a stolen vehicle was found inside the car, which led investigators to use the AirPods left behind to track the vehicle. The investigation led them to a home on Flamingo Street, where Olguin and Moreno were found in possession of marijuana.

With the homeowner’s consent, officers searched the residence and discovered several stolen items, including a firearm. Investigators linked the pair to an ongoing case involving over a dozen vehicle burglaries and stolen cars.

Olguin and Moreno face numerous charges, including 15 counts of burglary of a vehicle, seven counts of auto theft, and one count of firearm theft. They are also charged with possession of marijuana. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to connect the pair to additional crimes.
