In a successful operation by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Secunderabad division, Ranveer Singh (48) was arrested on Thursday for his involvement in multiple cases of theft targeting rail passengers. The police recovered 26.5 tola of gold ornaments, valued at Rs21 lakh, from his possession.
According to the authorities, Ranveer Singh, along with five other associates who are currently absconding, formed a gang that carried out thefts of valuables from unsuspecting railway passengers. The gang is believed to have operated across various stations, and the stolen goods were sold to fund their lavish lifestyle.
Ranveer Singh, a habitual offender, had a criminal record with previous arrests in Delhi, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. He was apprehended after being spotted behaving suspiciously on Platform No.1 of Secunderabad Railway Station. Police swiftly took him into custody, and the recovered gold ornaments were identified as part of the loot.
Authorities are currently searching for his absconding associates, who are believed to be involved in similar crimes across other railway stations. The arrest of Ranveer Singh is a significant breakthrough in addressing the growing issue of theft on trains.
