Two men have been charged with stealing over 400 bottles of wine after a robbery investigation at a Friendswood grocery store led authorities to uncover additional thefts in the area.
Michael Diaz, 42, and Juan Carlos Rosa-Torres, also 42, have each been charged with theft, while Torres is also facing an evading charge for leading Katy police on a chase. The investigation began after a wine theft at the H-E-B store in Friendswood on Saturday. Police reviewed security footage and were able to link Diaz and Rosa-Torres to other wine thefts around the area.
The two suspects were located in Katy, where police found their vehicle. After a brief chase, Diaz and Rosa-Torres were arrested. Authorities seized 498 bottles of wine that had been stolen from various stores.
Both men were booked into the Fort Bend County Jail, where they are being held on the charges.
