Christopher Smith Arrested in Round Rock for Catalytic Converter Theft

Smith Faces Charges After Police Find Stolen Catalytic Converters

Round Rock, Texas — A 32-year-old man from Austin, Christopher Smith, was arrested in Round Rock on December 16 after police discovered several stolen catalytic converters and theft tools during a routine traffic stop.

At around 1:30 p.m., officers stopped Smith’s vehicle near the 600 block of McNeil Road. Upon searching the vehicle, they found several catalytic converters along with the tools commonly used to steal them. Additionally, narcotics were also found in the car.

Smith was arrested and booked into the Williamson County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a catalytic converter, and unlawful use of a criminal instrument. He is now facing multiple charges related to the thefts.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Round Rock Police Department to combat catalytic converter thefts, a crime that has been on the rise in many communities.
