CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Two men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Cape Girardeau in October 2024.
According to the probable cause statement, on October 28, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Cape Girardeau police responded to a robbery report on South Sprigg Street. Officers discovered a juvenile victim who had been robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot outside his apartment.
The victim reported that he was carrying a blue backpack containing $200 in cash and his pay card, both of which were taken during the robbery. The victim described the suspects as being in a black Chrysler 300 sedan. He identified one of the suspects as Khamani Rutherford, who was driving the vehicle.
The victim also reported that the suspect in the front passenger seat, later identified as Tristan Mackins, exited the vehicle and pointed a Glock handgun with an extended magazine at him.
Following the investigation, Rutherford and Mackins were arrested on December 5, 2024, and taken to the Cape County Jail. No injuries were reported from the incident
