by Amelia Crawford

A 54-year-old man, Israel Anthony Padilla, was arrested by San Antonio Police for his involvement in a series of burglaries targeting newly constructed homes in the city.

Padilla was apprehended on December 4, 2023, after authorities connected him to a burglary at a newly built home on November 3. Security footage showed him stealing kitchen appliances by disconnecting them and loading them into his truck.

A warrant for Padilla’s arrest was issued on November 27. He has been linked to at least two other burglaries at vacant homes in different parts of San Antonio, although police suspect he may be involved in more incidents.

While Padilla was working alone during this burglary, law enforcement is continuing their investigation to determine whether he is part of a larger theft ring. Authorities urge residents and homebuyers to stay alert and report any suspicious activity or provide surveillance footage to assist the investigation.

The San Antonio Police Department has been intensifying efforts to prevent thefts at newly built homes, with a special focus on the theft of appliances and construction materials.
