RACELAND, La. — Three teenagers have been arrested in connection to an attempted armed robbery that escalated into a shooting on Thursday, December 5. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Brooklyn Lane, Raceland, and was reported just after 9:30 p.m..
According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, 17-year-old Kayleigh Gregoire of Houma, and another female, allegedly lured a 17-year-old male to a home under the pretense of a sexual encounter. However, it was later revealed that Gregoire, along with 18-year-old Payton Scott of Bayou Blue, and a 16-year-old male, had planned to rob the victim instead.
When the victim arrived, Scott and the 16-year-old allegedly approached him while armed, and a gunfire exchange ensued. The 17-year-old male victim was grazed in the hand by a bullet and sought treatment at a local hospital. He was later released.
In the course of the shooting, the female who had been with Gregoire was struck twice by the gunfire and had to be airlifted to a hospital in New Orleans. She remains in critical but stable condition.
Scott and the 16-year-old have been charged with attempted armed robbery and use of a firearm in an attempted armed robbery. Scott has been booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux, with bail set at $150,000. The 16-year-old is being held at the Juvenile Justice Facility in Thibodaux.
Gregoire faces charges of principal to attempted armed robbery and principal to attempted armed robbery with the use of a firearm. Her bail has also been set at $150,000.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have stated that additional charges could be forthcoming as they continue to piece together the events leading to the shooting.
