Lichtenburg School Clerk Faces 436 Fraud Charges After Allegedly Embezzling R2.4 Million
Lichtenburg — Lorato Junitor Motiki, a finance clerk at Lichtenburg Primary School, has been charged with 436 counts of fraud and theft. The charges stem from allegations that Motiki embezzled over R2.4 million from the school’s funds for personal gain.
The arrest, carried out by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (Hawks), occurred on December 6, 2024, the same day Motiki appeared in Lichtenburg Magistrate’s Court to face the serious charges. The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit led the investigation.
According to Warrant Officer Amogelang Malwetse, Motiki’s arrest follows a thorough investigation into the fraudulent activities, and she is set to attend a disciplinary hearing in connection with the alleged theft.
