A Paragould man is facing a serious felony charge after authorities say he forcibly entered a home and assaulted multiple people in Marmaduke, Arkansas.
According to a probable-cause affidavit, 51-year-old Vernon Wesley Dixon Jr. has been charged with aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony. A judge determined there was probable cause for the charge on February 27.
The incident reportedly occurred on February 24, when Greene County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported assault at a residence on Greene 443. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with three victims at the scene.
Investigators say two victims reported that Dixon and another individual entered the home without permission and began attacking a man inside. During the altercation, the accomplice allegedly threw a knife toward a woman’s head. While she was not struck, the knife landed nearby.
Witnesses told authorities that a woman drove Dixon and his accomplice to the residence in a silver SUV and later helped them flee the scene after the incident.
One victim also reported that as the group was leaving, the driver turned the vehicle toward her, forcing her to move to avoid being hit. The vehicle then struck a trailer and a wooden post, causing visible property damage.
Dixon is currently being held on a $500,000 cash or surety bond. As part of his conditions, he has been ordered to wear an ankle monitor, avoid contact with the victims, and not possess any weapons.
