The Government Railway Police (GRP) is set to file a custody application before the Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-I for four Haryana natives recently arrested in connection with a planned gold robbery on a train.
Police sources revealed that the suspects had been involved in multiple similar thefts across the country, targeting train passengers.
The accused — Rajesh (42), Dilbag (62), Manoj (36), and Jithendar (44) — are currently in judicial custody. The case stems from an incident on November 13, when the suspects allegedly planned to steal gold from passengers.
They were arrested from a long-distance train on November 15 with support from the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Following their interrogation and the recovery of stolen ornaments, city police have gained crucial insights into the operations of organized robbery gangs targeting trains.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining possible links to other thefts committed nationwide by the same group.
