Ranchi police have arrested two men from different parts of the city for allegedly stealing jewellery and other valuables from homes, recovering around 200 grams of gold and silver ornaments from their possession.
According to Ranchi SP (Rural) Praveen Pushkar, Firdaus Ali, who carried out the thefts, was apprehended from Namkum, while jeweller Dilip Soni, who allegedly purchased and melted the stolen items to make new jewellery, was arrested from Lalpur. Soni owns a shop in Kantatoli.
“The gang, comprising around five members, would surveil houses for two to three days to ensure no one was home before stealing. After the thefts, they sold the jewellery to Soni,” said Pushkar. Authorities are continuing operations to apprehend the remaining gang members.
The case highlights organized burglary operations in the state capital and ongoing police efforts to dismantle such criminal networks.
