Runda, Nairobi — Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Tobias Oduor and Nickson Indasia in connection with a stolen mobile phone network operating in the Githogoro area of Runda.

The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted Thursday night by officers from the DCI Operations Action Team (OAT), alongside detectives from DCI Gigiri and Runda Police Station. Investigators targeted a shop named E7 Cosmetics, suspected of serving as a front for the illegal trade in stolen electronics.

During a search of the premises, police recovered 65 mobile phones, seven laptops, and 52 dismantled phones, believed to be stolen or intended for resale as spare parts. One mobile phone was identified as having been violently snatched from a victim at Ruaka stage and was confirmed to be in the possession of one of the suspects.

“When confronted, the suspects failed to provide a credible explanation for the recovered items, strengthening suspicions that the premises were part of a broader stolen property network,” authorities said.

All recovered electronics have been documented as exhibits while investigations continue. The two suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned on charges of handling stolen property.
