CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — A Fort Lauderdale man with multiple prior theft convictions has been arrested after detectives linked him to a series of retail thefts across Broward County.
Authorities say Antoine Griffin, 39, stole a Ninja coffee maker and bedding worth more than $1,000 from a Target store at 4400 North State Road 7 in Coral Springs on Feb. 25, according to an arrest report.
At the time detectives connected Griffin to the incident, he was already being held in Broward County Jail on an earlier theft charge. Investigators added the new charge against him on March 4.
Multiple stores targeted
The Target case is part of a larger investigation into several thefts allegedly tied to Griffin across the county.
Detectives from the Broward County Gang Investigations Task Force and Davie Police began looking into the incidents after Home Depot loss prevention officers reported multiple thefts involving the suspect.
One theft occurred on Jan. 2 at the Home Depot at 750 N. University Drive in Coral Springs. Investigators said Griffin allegedly took two cordless drill kits valued at about $358, then pushed open a fire exit door and left the store. Surveillance video reportedly captured him leaving in a waiting vehicle.
Another theft was reported at the same Home Depot on Jan. 13, when merchandise including ceiling fans and an electrical panel was stolen. The total loss in that incident was about $1,104, according to investigators.
Additional incidents in Pompano Beach
Detectives also connected Griffin to three thefts at a Home Depot in Pompano Beach on Feb. 6, Feb. 11, and Feb. 13.
In those cases, authorities say he removed items such as power tools and lighting products from the store without paying and left in a vehicle.
Investigators identified Griffin through store surveillance footage and a photo lineup conducted during the investigation.
Prior convictions
Authorities said Griffin has a history of theft-related convictions in Broward and Palm Beach counties, including felony grand theft cases in 2022 and 2024.
Court records show he previously served three years in Florida State Prison for 18 theft cases and was released in April 2025.
Current charges
Griffin now faces several charges connected to the ongoing investigations, including:
Retail theft over $750
Petit theft
Grand theft
Use of an anti-shoplifting device
Resisting an officer without violence
Fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement
Authorities said no bond has been set as the case moves forward.
