Police in Kapu have arrested two interstate burglars in connection with a theft at the residence of Congress leader Kapu Divakar Shetty in Kothalkatte, Uliyaragoli village.
The incident occurred in January when Divakar Shetty had travelled to Mumbai with his family. The burglars allegedly entered the house in their absence, stealing valuables worth Rs19.05 lakh, including:
Silver items from the prayer room
30 grams of melted gold
A Rado watch
Cash from the master bedroom cupboard
Before fleeing, the burglars reportedly tampered with CCTV cameras and took the DVR. A case was registered at the Kapu Police Station.
During the investigation, police arrested:
Esakki Raja (28) from Pattayam, Tirukurungudi, Tamil Nadu
Nambi Raja (23), his associate
Efforts are ongoing to trace three other suspects from Tamil Nadu and recover the stolen property. Cases have also been registered against the accused in multiple police stations in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Kapu Circle Inspector Azmath Ali G, assisted by PSI Tejaswi T.I. and Shubhakar. Officers from Kapu, Padubidri, and Shirva police stations, along with CDR section staff, participated in the operation.
