TALOGA, Okla. — Two men have been arrested following an investigation into the theft of oilfield equipment in Dewey County, officials said.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) reported that the investigation began in June 2025 after a security consultant for Ovintiv Energy requested assistance regarding missing equipment.
Records and internal reviews revealed that Clyde Thompson, 48, a contract employee, had stolen a significant amount of oilfield pipe from drilling sites across multiple counties. Investigators said the pipe, which should have been transported to storage or other drilling locations, lacked proper transportation documentation.
Much of the missing pipe was transported by Monster Services in vehicles driven by Marvin Rogers, 63, who admitted to falsifying load tickets while hauling the equipment. OSBI determined that Thompson sold approximately 2,000 joints of pipe, costing Ovintiv around $43,000 in transportation fees.
Investigators interviewed local farmers and a steel company that purchased the stolen pipe. Based on the gathered evidence, arrest warrants were issued for both men. They turned themselves in to the Dewey County Sheriff’s Office in March 2026 and were booked into Dewey County Jail on charges including Larceny of Oilfield Equipment, Criminal Conspiracy, and Engaging in a Pattern of Criminal Offenses.
