Hyderabad: Police arrested Shaik Shaheen Begum, a resident of Bandlaguda, on March 11 for allegedly stealing 50 grams of gold ornaments from a function hall in the Bandlaguda area earlier this month.

Authorities said the accused attended function halls posing as an invited guest and reportedly took handbags containing valuables left unattended on chairs.

Police added that Shaik Shaheen Begum is also linked to a property offence and was previously convicted for life in her husband’s murder case.

Following the incident, officials issued strict guidelines for function hall management:

Install CCTV cameras at all key locations including entrances, exits, parking areas, reception, corridors, dining halls, and seating areas.

Ensure cameras are of high quality with clear resolution and positioned to capture faces and activities unobstructed.

Maintain proper functioning of cameras at all times, especially during events, and store footage for 15–30 days for police verification.

Display a notice board stating “CCTV Surveillance in Operation.”

Repair or replace non-functional cameras immediately.

Function hall managers are responsible for the proper installation, maintenance, and operation of CCTV systems, ensuring compliance for safety and crime prevention.
