The Bassi Pathana Police have arrested two men in connection with motorcycle thefts and recovered five stolen bikes from their possession. The accused have been identified as Mandeep Singh, a resident of Dafeda village, and Asif, a resident of Sohana, Mohali district.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Sharma, the investigation began after a complaint was lodged on March 8 by Deepak Joshan of Sunam. Joshan stated that he had parked his motorcycle near Old Jail Road in Bassi Pathana and, upon returning, found it missing.
Acting on the complaint, Sub-Inspector Raghuvir Singh conducted an investigation and arrested Mandeep Singh and Asif from Majri Bassi Pathana Road along with a stolen motorcycle. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to involvement in other theft cases, leading police to recover four additional stolen motorcycles.
A case has been registered, and the accused were produced in court and remanded into police custody for further questioning. Authorities stated that the duo had previously been booked in theft cases and primarily targeted motorcycles in the Mohali area.
Police are continuing the investigation to determine the full extent of their theft network, including the number of motorcycles stolen and the locations where they were sold. Further revelations are expected as the probe progresses.
