Police in Peel Region have arrested two brothers from Mississauga in connection with an organized auto theft operation that resulted in dozens of criminal charges and the recovery of stolen vehicles worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
According to Peel Regional Police, the investigation began in October 2025 and concluded in March 2026 after officers executed search warrants at two residences in Mississauga. Authorities say the operation targeted a coordinated criminal group responsible for multiple vehicle thefts across the region.
The suspects were identified as Sulman Dar, 28, and Shahroz Dar, 24. Police say both men were already under court-ordered release conditions related to previous robbery and property offences when they were arrested.
Investigators recovered 13 stolen vehicles valued at more than $800,000 during the operation.
Sulman Dar faces 47 charges, including:
24 counts of possession of property obtained by crime
23 counts of failing to comply with a release order
Shahroz Dar faces seven charges, including:
Theft of a motor vehicle
Possession of property obtained by crime
Failing to comply with a release order
Both suspects were held in custody pending bail hearings.
Police said the arrests are part of a broader enforcement effort targeting organized auto theft. Authorities report that vehicle thefts in Peel Region have dropped nearly 15% in 2026 compared to the same period last year.
Deputy Chief Marc Andrews said organized auto theft remains a major priority for investigators.
“Organized crime groups that target our communities for profit will be identified, disrupted, and dismantled. We will continue to hold those responsible fully accountable for their criminal actions.”
The investigation into the wider theft network remains ongoing.
