Belagavi Police Arrest 5 in Rs 95 Lakh Vehicle Theft

Inter-state gang caught with 21 stolen vehicles

The Belagavi Marihal Police successfully cracked inter-state and inter-district vehicle theft cases, arresting five accused and recovering 21 stolen vehicles valued at approximately Rs 95 lakh.

According to City Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse, the investigation began in November 2025 after a vehicle was reported stolen from outside a residence near Nilji Cross, under the jurisdiction of Marihal Police Station. Following leads, the police obtained intelligence that the suspects operated across districts and had made a profession of stealing vehicles. A coordinated operation was launched based on this information.

The accused were identified as:

Yasuf Khan (69) – Dharwad

Zakir Hussain Pardevale (47) – Vijayapura

Azadi Ibrahim Mutavalli (36) – Vijayapura

Shafiq Ahmed (52) – Vellore, Tamil Nadu

Basir Ahmed Makandar (38) – Dandeli

Authorities seized a total of 21 vehicles, including 8 goods mini trucks, 7 bikes, and 5 scooters, from the accused. Cases have been registered at multiple police stations, and legal proceedings are underway against all individuals involved.
