Montgomery County – A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a vehicle speeding early Sunday morning on Highway 105. When the deputy attempted to stop it, the vehicle failed to yield, traveling nearly six miles before coming to a stop.
Both occupants were detained, and deputies discovered 24 boxes of stolen power tools. Authorities determined the items had been stolen from a Tractor Supply in Navasota earlier that night.
The driver, Angel Ponce, 31, was arrested and jailed without bond on charges of evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and felony theft. The passenger, Warrick Mason, 37, was charged with felony theft and held on a $25,000 bond.
Both suspects reportedly have extensive criminal histories.
The Conroe Police Department and Navasota Police Department assisted in the pursuit. Navasota police recovered approximately $7,760 during the traffic stop.
The Navasota Police Department is continuing its investigation, with additional charges expected in Grimes County once the case is complete.
