The Bloomingdale Police Department announced the arrest of a Newark man in connection with a commercial burglary that occurred on Dec. 29, 2025.
Officers responded to a business in Bloomingdale, NJ, USA after receiving a report that unknown individuals had forcibly entered the closed establishment after business hours. Police said the suspect had ransacked areas including the cash register but fled the scene before the business owner arrived. No property was stolen.
Investigators identified the suspect as Gabriel Bay, 57, of Newark. Police noted that Bay has an extensive criminal history, including prior burglary-related offenses throughout New Jersey and recent charges linked to a series of burglaries in Somerset County, NJ, USA.
A warrant was issued for Bay’s arrest. Officers tracked him to New Brunswick, where initial attempts to apprehend him were unsuccessful. On Jan. 11, 2026, Bay was finally taken into custody by the New Brunswick Police Department.
Bay was committed to the Middlesex County Jail, where he remains pending court proceedings. Authorities emphasized that the complaint is an accusation, and Bay is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
