HARTFORD, CT — March 2026

A 22-year-old man is facing multiple charges after Hartford police say he fled on foot during a stolen vehicle investigation and was later found with a loaded firearm.

Police identified the suspect as Marquees Rodriguez, who was already wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for escape and car break incidents.

Members of the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force reportedly identified Rodriguez and linked him to multiple vehicle theft cases.

Investigators said they located a stolen Honda Accord they believed Rodriguez had been driving near Humphrey Street in Hartford.

When officers approached the vehicle, Rodriguez allegedly fled on foot toward another stolen vehicle parked nearby. Police pursued him briefly and took him into custody.

Authorities charged Rodriguez with several offenses, including:

Theft of a motor vehicle

Larceny in the second degree

Use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission

Criminal possession of a firearm

Weapons in a motor vehicle

Theft of a firearm

Interfering with police

Police also recovered a loaded handgun at the scene, along with two stolen vehicles — a 2014 Honda Accord reported stolen in Granby, Connecticut and a 2018 Acura ILX stolen in Meriden, Connecticut.

The investigation into the thefts remains ongoing.
