Shirva Police in Udupi district arrested two alleged drug peddlers after recovering 2.83 grams of MDMA, officials confirmed.
The accused, Zakir Ahmed (66) and Syed Shamim (28), both residents of Belpu village in Kaup taluk, were intercepted following a police tip-off regarding the movement of narcotic drugs.
The officers stopped a car near Janata Colony in Chandranagar on Friday and seized the contraband. Both individuals were taken into custody for further investigation under relevant narcotics laws.
Authorities emphasized that the arrest reflects the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in the district. Further inquiry is underway to determine the source and distribution network of the seized MDMA.
