Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in stealing mobile phones from various parts of the city. The accused, Vikram Koli, a resident of Karodia Road, reportedly conducted recce of bridges and flyovers before committing thefts.
How the Theft Was Uncovered
Police said they received credible information about Koli’s activities, following which he was tracked down in the Bajwa area. Officers recovered a mobile phone from him, which he could not produce a purchase bill for.
During questioning, Koli admitted that he had stolen the phone from a labourer sleeping under a bridge.
Modus Operandi
According to police, Koli roamed under bridges and flyovers, targeting labourers who slept in vulnerable areas. In addition to these thefts, he broke into two houses and stole mobile phones.
The stolen devices were reportedly sold outside the state to prevent tracing and complicate recovery efforts.
Authorities said further investigation is ongoing to determine if Koli had any accomplices or additional stolen goods yet to be recovered.
