PERRY, Fla. — A North Carolina man has been arrested for allegedly defrauding a bank in Perry, Florida.

Keith Sanders, 46, is facing one count of grand theft and one count of scheme to defraud a financial institution, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The investigation began in November 2025 after the Perry Police Department reported that Sanders had submitted a falsified loan application to Blue Coast Federal Credit Union. The fraudulent application sought over $198,000. Sanders later defaulted on the loan.

Investigators allege that Sanders falsely claimed he resided in Panama City and worked in Tallahassee. He also reportedly provided the credit union with a boat title for a vessel that does not exist.

Sanders turned himself in at the Taylor County Jail on February 23. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
