Days after arresting the prime suspect, the Panchkula police have apprehended a juvenile accused in the robbery-cum-murder of 29-year-old Deepak, a resident of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, who was living in Dhakoli and working at a call centre in Chandigarh.
The incident occurred around 2 am on the night of March 2–3, when Deepak stopped on a road near Krishi Bhawan, Sector 12, Panchkula, to speak to a friend on his phone. According to police, two youths allegedly attacked him with sharp knives and snatched his mobile phone before fleeing.
Deepak sustained severe injuries and was declared dead on arrival at Civil Hospital, Sector 6. Following a complaint from the victim’s brother, a murder case was registered at Sector 5 police station, prompting multiple police teams to track the accused.
The main suspect, Roshan, a resident of Gopalganj, Bihar, currently living in Dhakoli, was arrested within six hours of the crime. He was produced before a court on March 4 and remanded to three days of police custody.
During the investigation, a second accused, a juvenile, was also taken into custody. The police are still attempting to recover the weapon used in the crime, blood-stained clothing, and the stolen mobile phone. Preliminary findings suggest the murder occurred during a robbery attempt after the victim resisted.
