A man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly stealing items from a store while intoxicated in Canyon Country, authorities said.
Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded around 10:15 a.m. to the 18200 block of Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country following a report of petty theft.
According to spokesperson Shirley Miller, deputies determined the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Authorities identified the suspect as Oscar Escobar, 39, of Canyon Country. He was arrested on misdemeanor charges of being drunk in public and refusing to leave the property.
Due to his prior theft convictions, Escobar was also charged with felony petty theft, officials said.
Escobar remains in custody without bail as the case moves forward.
