YOLO COUNTY, Calif. — Authorities have arrested four suspects in connection with a series of thefts targeting cluster mailboxes across Yolo County, according to the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began in January after deputies identified a stolen U-Haul van believed to be tied to the crimes. Detectives determined the vehicle traveled between West Sacramento and Woodland at least five times during the early morning hours last month.
Search warrants were executed at residences in North Highlands and West Sacramento, where investigators recovered the stolen U-Haul and a large cache of stolen mail.
The suspects arrested include:
Carlos Cervantes Sr.
Moses Santos
Anita Santos
Kimberly Chavez
Law enforcement officials say mail theft investigations intensify during tax season due to the heightened risk of tax refund fraud and identity theft.
Earlier this week, Stockton police also announced the arrest of two additional suspects in separate mail theft cases, underscoring a broader regional effort to curb such crimes.
