Two Arrested in Stockton Mail Theft Investigation

Dmarcus Javis and Jessica Ta face multiple felony and misdemeanor charges

Stockton police have arrested two individuals in connection with a series of mail theft incidents, officials announced.

The investigation began after a case was referred to the Stockton Police Department by Councilmember Michele Padilla earlier this February. Surveillance footage captured a suspicious vehicle believed to be linked to the thefts.

With assistance from the United States Postal Inspection Service, detectives identified the suspects as 32-year-old Dmarcus Javis and 35-year-old Jessica Ta. Both were arrested on Wednesday.

Authorities say Ta’s residence contained counterfeit mailbox keys, hundreds of pieces of stolen mail, as well as credit cards and checks belonging to other individuals.

In total, Javis and Ta face 11 felony counts and 18 misdemeanor counts related to mail theft and associated crimes. The investigation remains ongoing.
