Mumbai Police Arrest Dog Sitter, Burglars in Rs50.2 Lakh Heist
The Amboli Police arrested four persons involved in a high-value burglary at the flat of businessman J C Rodrigues in Teachers Colony, Andheri. The loot, taken while the family was away in Jaipur, included ornaments and electronic goods worth Rs50.2 lakh, of which Rs31 lakh have been recovered.
Incident Details
The theft took place while the Rodrigues family was in Jaipur arranging their son’s wedding.
The flat was ransacked, a window grille was cut, and valuables were stolen from a cupboard.
The crime was masterminded by Suraj Pawar (22), a former dog sitter of the household, who hired seasoned burglar Surya Gounder (22) and his associates Jaswant Pawar (22) and Mudaliyar.
Investigation and Arrest
Police, led by DCP Zone 9 Dikshit Gedam and team including SI Sushantkumar Patil, senior inspectors Pramod Kokate, Haribhau Biradar, and Yogesh Pawar, identified Gounder as a recent ex-con with multiple house theft cases.
Gounder attempted to escape through mangroves after a daring chase but was apprehended.
Investigation revealed that Pawar offered Gounder 20% of the loot, coordinating with his brother Jaswant and aide Mudaliyar.
All four suspects are in police custody.
