Rampur Karkhana: Police have arrested two adults and detained a minor in connection with a jewelry heist worth Rs 85 lakh, involving a Class 7 student who was allegedly manipulated into handing over the valuables in exchange for momos.
The accused include Rakesh, a Momo stall operator, his accomplice, and Leelawati, who reportedly orchestrated the scheme. The police apprehended the trio near Dumri Tiraha after a tip-off led them to the suspects.
During questioning, authorities recovered several gold and silver ornaments, following disclosures from the accused. The FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by Vimlesh Mishra, whose son was coerced into giving the jewelry.
The student admitted to surrendering the ornaments under the lure of food, highlighting a troubling exploitation of a minor. Police investigations are ongoing to recover remaining items and identify any other individuals involved in the scheme.
