Medak Man Arrested for Rs8 Lakh UPI Fraud in Hospital

Medak: The Suraram police have arrested a 34-year-old man, Boorada Adi Narayana of Kowdipalli village, Medak district, for stealing a mobile phone from a patient and fraudulently transferring nearly Rs8 lakh via UPI transactions.

The investigation began after a theft was reported at Narayana Mallareddy Hospital in January 2025. Authorities discovered that the accused had used the stolen phone to carry out unauthorized UPI transfers, defrauding the victim of a substantial amount.

Police confirmed that Narayana was apprehended following a detailed probe and would face charges under theft and cyber fraud provisions.
