Burdwan police have arrested Munna Kacchap and his two sons, Aman Kachhap and Aniket Kachhap, after an elderly man was fatally beaten in the Lalpur area on January 31.
According to City DSP K V Raman, the victim, Madheshwar Singh (55), was taking an evening walk when a dispute arose with the accused. During the confrontation, Singh was assaulted by the trio and fell unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, locals blocked roads in Lalpur demanding swift police action. A case has been registered under sections 127(2), 308(4), 115(2), 351(2), 117(2), 109, 103(1), and 3(5) of BNS 2023 against the three arrested and Munna Kacchap’s wife, who remains absconding.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are working to apprehend the fourth accused
