Beloit Residents Arrested in Texas for Jan. 7 Theft

Two Beloit residents were arrested in Corpus Christi, Texas, in connection with a robbery that occurred in Beloit on Jan. 7, authorities say.

Melita Jensen and Charles Bernard were taken into custody on Jan. 28 by Texas officials and face charges of theft and obstructing justice.

The City of Beloit Police Department responded to a report of a robbery in the 400 block of Broad Street. According to reports, a restaurant worker was making a large cash deposit at the time. The worker was not injured and stated that no weapon was used during the incident.

On Jan. 15, Beloit police updated the charges, reclassifying the case from robbery to theft and obstructing justice.

Authorities have not released additional details about the case.
