LAKEWOOD, N.J. — A Freehold man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a vehicle reported earlier this month, according to local police.
Lakewood Police said Officer Tymur Zavalnyuk responded on January 25 to a report of a motor vehicle theft in the area of 166 Main Street. The victim reported that a 2002 Toyota Camry had been parked in a lot and left running. When the victim returned a short time later, the vehicle was missing.
Surveillance footage from the area captured the theft, and the vehicle was subsequently entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as stolen, police said.
On January 27, the Toyota Camry was located unoccupied in Freehold. A follow-up investigation conducted by Detective Donnelly, in coordination with members of the Freehold Police Department, led to the identification and arrest of 29-year-old Sioni Farrell of Freehold.
Farrell was charged with theft of a motor vehicle under New Jersey statute 2C:20-10.1A. Authorities did not release further details, and the investigation remains ongoing.
