ELMWOOD, La., Jan. 2026 — Authorities say an Ochsner Medical Center IT staffer allegedly stole tens of thousands of dollars in company computer equipment over several months.

Robert Vance, 38, was arrested Monday and booked on one count of felony theft valued at over $25,000, according to Sgt. Brandon Veal of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say missing docking stations were first noticed in early January at the Ochsner Clinic on Dickory Avenue in Elmwood. Video surveillance revealed a man entering the facility just after 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 2 using an Ochsner key card assigned to Vance. Although Vance was no longer assigned to that office, he previously worked there.

Authorities report that Vance is suspected of stealing seven docking stations that night and of committing similar thefts on four other occasions between Oct. 26 and Dec. 14, 2025. Each docking station is valued at approximately $215, bringing the total alleged loss to $73,745.

After a warrant was issued, Vance turned himself in at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna.
