Chirawa police have arrested four individuals in connection with a high-value jewellery theft worth approximately Rs 30 lakh. The accused were presented in court, which sent them to five-day police custody, according to Chirawa Station Officer Asharam Gurjar.
The case was filed by Arif, a resident of Chirawa town, on November 29, stating that his neighbour Vishal Bhalothia, along with his associates, intimidated his 13-year-old son, obtained the key to a cupboard, and stole jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh.
Police investigations revealed that Bhalothia, Vikrant, and Atul Sharma befriended Arif’s sons over time, gaining access to the house. By intimidating the younger son, they obtained the cupboard key. The theft was executed when most family members attended a wedding, and the accused removed all jewellery from the cupboard.
The fourth accused, Barkat Ali Khan (25), a jewellery craftsman from Balaram village, Medinipur district, West Bengal, reportedly melted the stolen gold jewellery to conceal the crime.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
Vishal Bhalothia (21)
Vikrant (21)
Atul Sharma (21)
Barkat Ali Khan (25)
The case highlights the targeting of a minor for access to high-value assets, and the police are continuing further investigation.
