Delhi Police have arrested three alleged serial burglars accused of carrying out multiple night-time break-ins in Vasant Kunj during October and November. The arrests came after weeks of technical surveillance and extensive CCTV analysis.
The crime spree reportedly began on October 17, when burglars broke into a flat in D-8, Vasant Kunj, stealing cash and other valuables. On October 26, another burglary was reported at the Sai Baba Temple in D-7, where cash and silver items were stolen. Police later recorded two attempted break-ins in the same area on November 11 and 19, indicating a repeated pattern.
A special police team analysed footage from more than 150 CCTV cameras across residential blocks, adjoining roads, and nearby societies. Officers also questioned over 60 suspects with prior criminal records and examined dossiers of active offenders in the area.
Based on technical surveillance and local intelligence, police first detained an associate named Gaurav. His interrogation led to the arrest of the three main accused — Sunil, Sonu, and Mohammad Salim.
Investigations revealed that the gang conducted reconnaissance near forested patches bordering residential areas, using them as concealed routes for entry and escape. Further investigation is underway to determine their involvement in other burglary cases in the city.
