COLTON, Calif. — A Colton resident suspected of carrying out a series of vehicle thefts using a white tow truck has been arrested, authorities announced.

Andy Joel Bonilla, 30, was taken into custody without incident on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, after investigators served a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of Ellen Street, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The arrest followed a joint investigation by the San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force (SANCATT) and the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department, who linked Bonilla to multiple vehicle thefts across the county. Investigators said the thefts involved the use of a white tow truck to unlawfully remove vehicles.

During the search, authorities recovered a large number of stolen vehicles and vehicle components, along with evidence indicating Bonilla may be connected to additional thefts outside of San Bernardino County.

Detectives believe Bonilla did not act alone and are investigating the possibility that other individuals conspired with him in the operation.

Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the thefts or possible accomplices to contact law enforcement.
