The Shivpuri police have cracked a high-value jewellery theft in Kolaras town, arresting two accused and recovering 46 kilograms of stolen silver that had been buried to evade detection. The theft, valued at nearly Rs2 crore, occurred on the night of July 26–27 at a jewellery shop owned by Girish Kumar Jain in Sadar Bazar.

During the investigation, police scanned over 200 CCTV cameras and questioned more than 100 suspects across Shivpuri, Gwalior, Morena, and Bhind districts. Cyber cell support aided in tracking leads, leading to a tip-off on January 20, 2026, that Aman Rawat was attempting to sell stolen silver in Shivpuri.

Acting on the information, police arrested Aman Rawat (22), a resident of Khonkar Road, Sesai Sadak, recovering a portion of the stolen silver. During interrogation, Rawat confessed to committing the theft with his uncle Sanjay Rawat, Janki Rawat, and his uncle’s associate Abhishek Rawat. Based on his disclosure, police arrested Abhishek Rawat (19), a resident of Kulwara village. Sanjay Rawat and Janki Rawat remain absconding.

Police discovered that the stolen silver was buried in pits at multiple locations to evade recovery, awaiting higher market prices. Further raids led to the recovery of additional silver near Thakur Baba’s platform in Khonkar and Kulwara village, bringing the total recovered to 46 kilograms, valued at around Rs1.53 crore.

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities anticipate more arrests and recovery of the remaining stolen property.
