The CIA-2 unit of Kurukshetra Police has arrested two individuals for allegedly stealing antique utensils from Virasat, the Heritage Village in Kurukshetra.
The accused have been identified as Rajat and Yogesh, both residents of Kurukshetra. Police recovered nearly 200 antique utensils from their possession.
The case came to light when Maha Singh, a resident of Sector 5, filed a complaint on January 8, stating that he is developing a heritage hotel in Masana village. He reported that a significant collection of antique utensils, purchased from various locations, had been stored in a warehouse at the hotel site. Several utensils were found missing on the same day.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at Thanesar Sadar Police Station and the investigation was handed over to the CIA-2 unit. On January 20, the team arrested the accused and recovered the stolen antiques. They were subsequently presented before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
Police also stated that efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend an absconding accused, Rakesh, believed to be one of the main conspirators behind the theft.
