Nashik Rural police have arrested three inter-state criminals involved in a chain-snatching incident in Manmad, one of whom has 24 previous cases registered against him.
Police said the suspects, who were riding a motorcycle, robbed a woman of her gold chain worth Rs90,000 on August 9. Investigation revealed that the criminals had moved towards Ahilyanagar after committing the robbery.
The arrested individuals were identified as:
Somnath Khalate – resident of Beed
Kiran Ajbe – resident of Ahilyanagar
Digambar Nikam – resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Authorities laid a trap and apprehended the suspects. During interrogation, the trio confessed to the chain-snatching, and the motorcycle used in the crime was also recovered. Police said further investigations are ongoing to check if the accused were involved in other theft cases.
