In a swift breakthrough, Delhi Police have arrested four young men for their alleged involvement in a robbery in the Shahbad Dairy area, where more than Rs2 lakh was stolen after a dramatic chase on January 15.
According to police officials, the accused chased the victim on a motorcycle bearing a blank registration plate before forcibly robbing him of cash. The victim was reportedly carrying daily business collections at the time of the incident.
The accused have been identified as Rohit (19), Sudhanshu (19), Shivam (19), and Himanshu Gupta (21), all residents of Vijay Vihar. Police said Himanshu Gupta, who worked at a local tobacco shop, played a key role in the crime by tipping off the others about the victim, who regularly transported cash after closing his business.
Using extensive CCTV footage analysis from the surrounding areas, police were able to track the movement of the suspects and identify the motorcycle used during the robbery. Following their arrest, officers recovered significant amounts of stolen cash from each accused, along with the motorcycle involved in the crime.
Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were involved in similar incidents and to recover any remaining evidence linked to the case, police added.
