The South-East Task Force, in collaboration with IS Sadan police, apprehended a notorious interstate gang responsible for a spate of temple thefts, shop burglaries, and vehicle thefts across Hyderabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates.
The gang, comprising five adults and one juvenile, all from West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, was captured within three days of their latest crime spree.
The leader, 21-year-old J Tharun Kumar Raju, along with associates D Ellyaajaru (22), M Mavullu (19), G Lokesh (19), K Rajji (18), and a juvenile, have extensive criminal records in Bhimavaram. Kumar Raju alone was previously involved in over 41 cases.
Acting on a tip-off, police caught the gang during a vehicle check in Champapet. During interrogation, the suspects admitted to the crimes and guided authorities to the stolen property.
Police registered 12 cases, including four temple thefts and two vehicle thefts, and recovered items worth approximately Rs 4 lakh.
