A man has been arrested in connection with a case in which four individuals were cheated of Rs6 lakh after being promised overseas jobs.
According to police, Gurumurthy (30), a resident of Dindigul district, was seeking employment abroad when he came across a WhatsApp advertisement offering jobs in Azerbaijan. Upon contacting the number listed in the ad, a person named Abishek claimed he could arrange the overseas job in exchange for a service charge of Rs1.5 lakh.
Gurumurthy and the other victims paid the money, but the promised jobs never materialized. The police launched an investigation and subsequently arrested the accused. Further inquiries are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members involved in the fraudulent network.
