HEWLETT, N.Y. — Three people were arrested Monday morning after a traffic stop in Hewlett led police to discover drugs and evidence of a theft earlier in the day, authorities said.

Officers stopped a vehicle on Peninsula Boulevard after observing it change lanes unsafely. Police identified the driver as Louis Wilson of Oyster Bay, with passengers Hasheem Foster and Ana Bonilla, both from Hempstead.

During the stop, officers found what is believed to be crack cocaine and heroin inside the vehicle. All three occupants were taken into custody.

Following further investigation, police determined that Wilson and Bonilla were also involved in a theft at an Oceanside store earlier the same day.

The investigation remains ongoing, and all three face drug possession charges, with additional theft-related charges filed against Wilson and Bonilla.
