Thota Naresh Arrested for Bus Passenger Robberies in Annamayya

Accused stole laptops and threatened women; Rs15 lakh recovered

Annamayya Police arrested Thota Naresh, a resident of Diguva Sarimadugu village, Gurramkonda mandal, on Monday, January 19, 2026, for allegedly targeting bus passengers and women. Authorities recovered stolen property worth Rs15 lakh, including laptops and other valuables.

According to Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kunuguli, Naresh had been stealing laptops from passengers and robbing women traveling alone on buses. On January 13, he reportedly threatened Rallapalli Reddamma at Gudivandlapalle in Sambepalli mandal with a knife in an attempt to steal her gold ornaments. When she resisted, he allegedly snatched her laptop and fled.

Police confirmed that the accused is being interrogated, and further investigation is underway to identify other potential victims and recover additional stolen property.
